Bitget to adjust maintenance margin rules for USDT-M Futures in multi-asset mode (classic account)

To further improve risk management in multi-asset mode and provide more accurate account risk assessments, Bitget will adjust the calculation of maintenance margin and estimated liquidation price for USDT-M Futures in multi-asset mode (classic account)

After the adjustment, the total maintenance margin in multi-asset mode will include both futures position maintenance margin and liability maintenance margin, providing a more accurate view of overall account risk.

 

Details

1.       Total maintenance margin calculation                                        

  - Before: The greater of futures position maintenance margin (A) and liability maintenance margin (B) is used.

  - After: A and B will be added together.

  - Impact: Users who hold futures positions and have USDT liabilities at the same time will see an increase in their total maintenance margin requirement.

2.       Liability maintenance margin (B) calculation

  - Before: A fixed maintenance margin rate is applied, calculated as ABS(liability) × 5%.

  - After: A progressive tiered calculation method will be used, with the maintenance margin rate applied based on the liability value tier.

  - Impact: The larger the liability, the higher the applicable maintenance margin rate.

3.       Estimated liquidation price

•         The new formula takes into account the impact of price changes on both unrealized PnL and the maintenance margin required for positions, allowing the estimated liquidation price to better reflect actual account risk.

Scope of impact

After this rule optimization, if a user simultaneously has the following in multi-asset mode:

•         Futures positions; and

•         USDT liabilities in the account

In such cases, the account's maintenance margin requirement may increase compared with before the adjustment. The account risk ratio, estimated liquidation price, and other related metrics may also change.

Check your account mode and maintenance margin levels in advance, and manage your positions and liabilities appropriately to avoid triggering risk control measures due to increased account risk after the adjustment.

 

Effective time

The adjustment is expected to take effect on June 25, 2026, at 4:00 PM (UTC+8). The actual effective time will be announced later or updated on the page.

 

Additional information

This adjustment only applies to the maintenance margin rules for USDT-M Futures in multi-asset mode (classic account). It does not affect maintenance margin calculations in other account modes.
