Golden Ten Data reported on May 15 that on Friday, the new policy committee member of the Bank of Korea, Kim Jin-Ill, emphasized in his inaugural speech the increasing risks of inflation and financial stability caused by Middle East conflicts, housing price fluctuations, and capital flows. This statement further reinforced market expectations that the central bank is gradually shifting toward a hawkish stance. Kim Jin-Ill, who previously served as an economist at the Federal Reserve and a professor at Korea University, pointed out that due to rising oil prices caused by the Middle East conflict, inflation concerns have "intensified further." He also warned that household debt and housing price issues have not yet been properly resolved; meanwhile, as Korea becomes more integrated with global financial markets, risks related to capital flows are also on the rise.
