Messari's Vice President of Research: Meme coins are an important part of cryptocurrency and could become a new asset class
Maartje Bus, Deputy Director of Research at encrypted data aggregator Messari, stated in a speech at BUIDL Asia held in Seoul on Thursday that Memecoins will still be an important part of the cryptocurrency market and could become a new asset class. Bus said memes are a way to monetize attention, which can easily translate into prediction markets in the case of tokens based on U.S. presidential candidates. Memecoins can also be seen as a "long-tail speculative service", similar to lottery tickets or low-priced stocks.
