Nigerian crypto wallets linked to protests evade the country's government freezes

Nigeria's National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, announced at a National Committee meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on August 13, that the government has blocked 83 billion naira (about $52 million) in cryptocurrencies (about $50 million) linked to funders of the EndBadGovernance protests and fiat currencies. This includes $50 million in cryptocurrencies, $38 million allegedly frozen in four wallets, and N4 billion allegedly donated by politicians from Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Katsina.
