Ethereum Surpasses Bitcoin in ETP Inflows for the First Time in 2025

In a surprising move in the cryptocurrency market, exchange-traded products (ETPs) of Ethereum (ETH) outperformed those of Bitcoin (BTC) in inflows for the first time in 2025. This notable milestone comes amid an overall surge in interest in crypto ETPs, which saw their fifth consecutive week of inflows totaling $1,3 billion.

According to a report from CoinShares released on Feb. 10, Ethereum ETPs garnered a whopping $793 million in inflows in the last trading week, surpassing Bitcoin ETPs, which saw $407 million in inflows. This significant increase in demand for Ethereum ETPs represents a major milestone in the cryptocurrency market and raises questions about the future of Ethereum and its role in the digital asset landscape.

The report noted that the spike in Ethereum ETP activity coincided with a dip in the price of ETH, which fell below $2.700 on Feb. 6. This dip appears to have prompted “significant buying on weakness,” as CoinShares director of research James Butterfill noted. Investors may have viewed the price drop as an opportunity to acquire Ethereum ETPs at a lower price, betting on the cryptocurrency’s future appreciation.

“Bitcoin saw inflows of $407 million, with ETPs globally accounting for 7,1% of the current market cap, making them the largest holders of any entity. Ethereum stole the show this week, with the price recently dipping to near $2.100, prompting significant buying on weakness, with inflows of $793 million, outpacing bitcoin for the first time this year.” wrote .

In addition to Ethereum and Bitcoin, other crypto assets have also seen notable increases in ETP inflows over the past week. XRP ETPs, for example, saw a 45% increase, jumping from $14,5 million to $21 million. Solana ETPs also saw significant growth, with a 148% increase to $11,2 million in inflows.

The overall increase in interest in cryptocurrency ETPs and the diversification of investments across different digital assets indicates a maturing crypto market. Investors are increasingly seeking exposure to different crypto assets through regulated and accessible products such as ETPs.
