Supreme Court to Review Federal Reserve Independence Amid Ongoing DOJ Probe
While the Justice Department’s examination of the Federal Reserve continues, the central bank’s struggle to remain free from political influence is set to reach the Supreme Court. On January 21, the justices will consider arguments concerning former President Donald Trump’s attempt to dismiss Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. If the administration prevails in this case, it could establish a significant precedent for the authority to remove central bank officials.
