An address poisoning attack resulted in a loss of $12.4 million in cryptocurrency, as the victim sent funds to a forged, similar-looking address. On-chain data shows that the victim's wallet has been active for over five years and previously held significant positions in Compound, indicating that they are an experienced user. The attacker inserted the forged address into the transaction history through small transfers, and the victim subsequently copied the address from the record, causing the funds to be transferred to the attacker's account.
