Germany Consumer Climate: Recovery Loses Momentum
Consumer Confidence Stagnates in February
In February, consumer confidence showed no further improvement. While expectations regarding income experienced a modest uptick, the desire to make purchases weakened. Meanwhile, the inclination to save, which was already elevated, rose again. Economic outlooks also became slightly more negative this month. As a result, the Consumer Climate index for March recorded a minor decline compared to the previous month, dropping by 0.5 points to −24.7 (previously revised to −24.2). These findings are based on the latest GfK Consumer Climate powered by NIM, a report jointly released by NIQ/GfK and the Nuremberg Institute for Market Research.
