This move demonstrates its intention to become a key manufacturing and distribution partner for global pharmaceutical companies targeting GLP-1 products, which represent the last major untapped market. Mounjaro was launched in South Africa at the end of 2024, and its introduction significantly boosted demand for weight loss drugs, expanding the GLP-1 market size to approximately 2.2 billion rand (about 133.64 million USD), with continued growth.
