The rollout provides valuable operational insights, familiarizes users with autonomous travel, and enhances Uber’s partnerships with AV developers and regulators—critical for scaling its global AV presence.

Uber is pursuing a partnership-driven approach to robotaxis, collaborating with third-party AV technology providers to avoid the high costs of developing proprietary systems. Recently, Uber teamed up with Amazon’s Zoox to bring purpose-built robotaxis to its platform.
