The Solana Foundation and Project Eleven are collaborating to test quantum-resistant encryption technology, addressing concerns about the potential threat that future quantum computers could pose to blockchain security. Initial tests showed that quantum-resistant signatures increased in size by 40 times compared to the original, resulting in a roughly 90% decrease in network speed and raising questions about scalability.
