Weekly Unemployment Claims Update
For the week ending April 4, initial jobless claims, adjusted for seasonal factors, reached 219,000—up by 16,000 compared to the prior week's revised total. The previous week's figure was adjusted upward by 1,000, moving from 202,000 to 203,000.
The four-week average of claims rose to 209,500, marking an increase of 1,500 from the previous week's revised average. That earlier average was also revised upward by 250, from 207,750 to 208,000.
The insured unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, remained steady at 1.2 percent for the week ending March 28, showing no change from the unrevised rate of the week before.
