Many Americans are facing an unwelcome reality: the cost of goods and services is climbing once more, and elevated inflation may persist for the foreseeable future. Since 2021, inflation has posed ongoing challenges for the US economy. Although the pace of price increases has slowed significantly in recent years, inflation has not fully returned to levels seen before the pandemic, and people are still struggling to adapt to these higher costs.
As a result, the rising cost of living continues to be the top issue for voters in survey after survey. While the current spike in oil prices is unlikely to push inflation back up to the 9.1% peak reached in recent decades, concerns about affordability remain widespread.
