Producer Price Index Sees Notable Increase in March
According to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand rose by 0.5% in March after similar gains of 0.5% in February and 0.6% in January. (Refer to table A for details.)
Over the past year, the unadjusted PPI for final demand climbed 4.0%, marking the most significant 12-month growth since the 4.7% increase recorded in February 2023. The primary driver behind March’s overall rise was a 1.6% jump in prices for final demand goods, while prices for final demand services remained steady.
