Commonwealth Bank of Australia: US core inflation may exceed market expectations
ChainCatcher news, according to Golden Ten Data, Commonwealth Bank of Australia foreign exchange strategist Sarah Hammoud stated that the risk lies in the spillover effects of energy prices on other prices such as airfares and food, which could cause US core inflation to exceed market consensus expectations. If US core inflation is higher than expected, it will push up US yields and the US dollar exchange rate. The market generally anticipates that CPI data will reinforce expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged in the short term, and traders have already ruled out the possibility of a rate cut this year.
