The gas turbine industry is experiencing an unprecedented supply and demand mismatch.

May 12th, according to information from the 2026 13th Aircraft Propulsion and Gas Turbine Focus Exhibition hosted by the China Power Engineering Society and others, global demand for gas turbines (including aviation modifications, industrial, and heavy-duty) in 2025 is expected to reach about 90 to 100 GW, while the annual capacity of major global manufacturers is only 55 to 60 GW, resulting in a supply gap as high as 30 to 40 GW. The backlog of orders is already equivalent to the industry's total output from the past 2 to 3 years, marking the most severe structural shortage since the major expansion of natural gas power generation in 2000.
