IEA: Europe struggles to fill the gap in aviation fuel imports from the Middle East

IEA pointed out in its monthly report that, due to the impact of the Iran war and the actual closure of the Strait of Hormuz causing supply disruption in the Persian Gulf, the volume of Middle Eastern jet fuel arriving in Europe plummeted from 330,000 barrels per day in March to only 60,000 barrels per day in April. IEA stated that, to avoid shortages in the summer, importing regions such as Europe ideally need to make up at least 80% of the lost Middle Eastern imports, preferably reaching 90%. However, IEA said that Europe's net jet fuel imports in April only reached 70% of the March level.
