Because helium is an indispensable raw material for semiconductor manufacturing, long-term disruptions in transportation through the Strait of Hormuz could endanger the development of the global semiconductor industry. Qatar is the world's second-largest producer of helium, with its output accounting for about one-third of global production. Shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz make it impossible for helium produced by Qatar to be exported. If the shortage of helium supply continues, it will lead to a reduction in semiconductor production capacity. (CCTV News)
