According to CertiK co-founder and CEO Gu Ronghui, AI tools are intensifying the offensive-defensive imbalance in DeFi, making it easier for attackers to identify vulnerabilities and replicate attack vectors. In April this year, the DeFi security situation was severe, with only 3 days without hacker attacks, and total losses exceeding $690 million. Excluding a certain exchange attack event in February 2025, April was the month with the highest hacker losses since March 2022. He noted that attackers concentrate computing power to test a single protocol, while security firms have to allocate resources across multiple clients, putting defenders at a disadvantage. Recently, the main targets of attacks have shifted from smart contract vulnerabilities to weak points in operations security and supply chain. He emphasized that AI cannot prove that code is completely secure, and formal verification remains a more reliable approach to security assurance.
