In the suburbs of Washington, D.C., including the extremely power-intensive "Data Center Alley," electricity prices have surged past $1,000 per megawatt-hour, nearly four times higher than prices in the broader surrounding area. At the same time, in the Baltimore Gas & Electric area, electricity trade prices have exceeded $900, and in the Pepco service area under Exelon, prices are approaching $870.
