Two American men arrested for breaking into a Japanese zoo where internet celebrity monkey Punch lives to promote a meme coin.
BlockBeats news, May 20, according to BBC reports, two American men were arrested last Sunday for breaking into Ichikawa Zoo in Japan. The zoo is home to a baby monkey named Punch, who went viral on social media earlier this year. 24-year-old Reid Jahnai Daysun climbed over a fence into the monkey enclosure, while 27-year-old Neal Jabahri Duan filmed the entire process. After the incident, police in Chiba Prefecture, a suburb of Tokyo, detained the two men. The video shows Daysun wearing a blue suit printed with a smiley face emoji as he climbs into the monkey enclosure.
The report noted that Daysun's unusual outfit seemed to mimic the emoji commonly used to promote meme coin cryptocurrencies. Before being apprehended by security staff, the men did not make contact with Punch or any other monkeys.
On Monday, Ichikawa Zoo stated that it had filed a police report and is taking measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. The two men currently face charges of interfering with business operations, but they deny these charges.
