The Nasdaq 100 Index closed up 1.6% in early trading. Among its constituents, Arm Holdings closed up 15%, nuclear power stock CEG rose 7.9%, and AMD, Intel, Lam Research, Dexcom, ASML ADR, and Marvell Technology each gained at least 5.7%. Workday fell 2.1%, Lumentum dropped 2.5%, Walmart declined 2.8%, Intuit slid 3.6%, and ADI fell 4.2%.Goldman Sachs closed up 5.6% in early trading. Nike, Boeing, SHW, Home Depot, Amazon, and JPMorgan each rose more than 2%, leading Dow Jones constituents. UnitedHealth fell 1.6%, Chevron dropped 2.8%, tying with Walmart as the worst performers. The Semiconductor Index rose 4.5%.
