The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs stated in a statement that platforms offering monetary wagers on specific outcomes or events will still be classified as online gambling, even if they are packaged as "prediction markets" utilizing blockchain technology or crypto assets. "Activities like Polymarket involve monetary gambling and speculative elements on uncertain events, which is a violation of Indonesia's current laws," said Alexander Sabar, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia, in the statement.
