The SEC has conditionally approved the listing of cash-settled, European-style Bitcoin index options QBTC on Nasdaq PHLX, pending approval from the CFTC. QBTC is based on the CME CF Bitcoin Real-Time Index, settled in US dollars, with each contract representing 1 Bitcoin, which is lower than the 5 Bitcoin contracts on the CME Bitcoin contract, aiming to provide more convenient hedging and volatility trading options for small institutions and retail investors.
