Infographic: Chinese Leaders at the Helm of the Four Major Chip Giants
Glonghui, May 20|Today, the world's semiconductor and computing power landscape is shaped by four Chinese-descended leaders known as the “Four Chinese Chip Giants”: Jensen Huang of NVIDIA, Lisa Su of AMD, Pat Gelsinger of Intel, and Hock Tan of Broadcom. Currently, the total market capitalization of these four giants is stratified: NVIDIA leads with an impressive $5.36 trillion market cap; Broadcom follows with $1.95 trillion; AMD and Intel are close behind with $675.1 billion and $556.5 billion, respectively. These four Chinese-descended leaders not only head the world’s most core chip companies, but also control the essential computational power of the AI era. All four belong to the Chinese ethnic group, yet their origins and backgrounds form two remarkable camps: Taiwan camp: Jensen Huang (Tainan) and Lisa Su (Tainan) both hail from Tainan, Taiwan, and, in terms of family lineage, are even relatives. This pair of uncle and niece jointly monopolizes the majority of the world’s leading GPU and AI computing market share. Malaysian Chinese camp: Pat Gelsinger and Hock Tan both come from Malaysian Chinese families. With their keen business acumen and prowess in capital operations, they have played a stabilizing role in the transformation and consolidation of traditional Silicon Valley chip giants.
