Brazil's new sugarcane season ethanol production is expected to hit a record 41.4 billion liters, as Middle Eastern energy cost transfers boost the sugarcane-to-ethanol ratio.
Datagro projected on Wednesday that Brazil's nationwide ethanol production for the 2026/27 crushing season will reach 41.4 billion liters, setting a new historical record. In the Central-South region, sugarcane crushing will total 642.2 million tons, sugar production will be 40.98 million tons, and ethanol production will reach 38.61 billion liters. Nationwide sugarcane crushing is expected to be 698 million tons, with sugar production of 44.2 million tons. The Middle East conflict has driven up energy prices, prompting sugar mills in Brazil's Central-South region to favor ethanol production over sugar during the initial months of this crushing season. The production mix is tilting towards ethanol. The global sugar market is expected to see a small surplus of 57,000 tons in the 2025/26 season, but a deficit of 3.17 million tons is anticipated in the 2026/27 season. The potential impact of El Niño on India and Indonesia, as well as reduced planted areas in Europe and Thailand, are listed as key supply-side variables. Against the backdrop of high crude oil prices, Brazil’s ethanol price advantage is increasingly evident, which will support sugar prices remaining at elevated levels.

Some investors are preparing for a correction in the semiconductor market
Golden Ten Data reported on May 13 that the astonishing surge in semiconductor company stock prices has propelled the rise of the US stock market, but these eye-popping gains have also sparked concerns about market overheating, prompting some investors to prepare for a market correction. Even investors who are optimistic about the sector are getting ready for a possible cooling of this craze. The performance of the semiconductor sector has led some to draw comparisons to the dot-com bubble of 1999-2000. "Whenever you see any asset rising in a parabolic fashion, you have to ask yourself: has the market become too overheated?" said Peter Tuz, president of Chase Investment Counsel in Charlottesville, Virginia. Tuz stated that on Monday, the firm sold its position in Qualcomm from its income-oriented portfolio, but kept holdings in other portfolios that include stocks such as AMD and NVIDIA. On Tuesday, related stocks pulled back, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closing down 3%. Some investors are becoming increasingly bearish on the sector. Well-known investor and "Big Short" Michael Burry said on Tuesday that he still holds put options on the iShares Semiconductor ETF, which grant the right to sell the asset.

Bubblemaps: An address holds 72% of the TCLAW token supply and hides its identity, indicating suspicious activity
Foresight News reports that Bubblemaps analysis indicates that a certain address holds 72% of the TCLAW token supply and is actively concealing its identity, drawing attention. Before launch, wallet 0x31d7 supported around 70 wallets with funds bridged through two sources; these wallets had no prior activity and received funds within a narrow time window, then dispersed SOL into new wallets to create a structure for the aggregation layer.Bubblemaps stated that the team left an approximately 24-hour window between the token creation and the announcement. TCLAW token began trading at 23:25 on May 7, 2026, and the announcement was published at 23:22 on May 8. These wallets purchased the tokens before the public announcement. Part of the funds at the "0x31d7" address originated from a Squads Vault named "Traderclaw." Although there is no definitive evidence connecting the team to this batch activity, their actions and bridging activities are considered suspicious.
