Billionaire financier initiates $65 billion acquisition proposal for Universal Music
Bill Ackman Proposes $65 Billion Acquisition of Universal Music Group
Renowned billionaire Bill Ackman has put forward a $65 billion offer to acquire Universal Music Group (UMG), the renowned label behind artists such as Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Bad Bunny. The plan includes merging UMG with Ackman's investment firm, Pershing Square Capital Management, and transferring UMG's stock listing from Amsterdam to the New York Stock Exchange.
Pershing Square currently owns over 4.5% of UMG's shares. Ackman believes that moving the listing to a U.S. exchange would boost UMG's market value, noting that the company's stock performance has been stagnant.
